Summary

​These National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) Apprenticeship Standards have as their objective the training of Bus Maintenance Technicians skilled in all phases of bus maintenance. The NJATC and its affiliated Local Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees recognizes that in order to accomplish this, there must be well-developed on-the-job learning combined with related instruction. This recognition has resulted in the development of these Apprenticeship Standards.

Description

The Public Transit national Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) recognizes the need for structured training programs to maintain

the high level of skill and competence demanded in the Public Transit industry. Registered apprenticeship is the most practical and sound

training system available to meed that need, to develop individuals into skilled journeyworkers, and to ensure industry an adequate supply of

skilled workers.

​The establishment of local apprenticeship programs under these National Guidelines Standards will provide the Sponsor with a skilled and versatile work force at each of its locations by providing apprentices the opportunity to become journeyworkers through an organized and properly supervised program of training, practical experience, and related instruction.
